About This Item

After leaving school in 1983 I served my apprenticeship as a pipefitter with my very good schoolfriend Darren Passmore who chose to become a welder.I stayed close to home to work while Darren travelled all over the world and always came home with new shoes (he was a bit of a male Imelda Marcos!) and lots of interesting stories of places he'd been, things he'd seen and scrapes he'd got into!
During the 90s he turned up on my doorstep with a present from his latest job,it was a piece of the Berlin wall (taken from close to the Brandenburg Gate) that he had bought there. This piece of concrete has been all over the house as an ornament and finally settled on a dresser for a few years and now its time to tidy up and put it away somewhere...but it doesnt feel right. Darren was lost overboard a ship in the South China Seas 2 years ago and as this is one of the only things he gave me (us blokes dont really do the 'gift' thing to each other do we?) i thought that it would be fitting to send it on its way out into the world again and see what trouble IT got into.Darren would have approved of this as he was very much up for anything if there was a laugh involved!
The 'screen' refers to a welding screen (faceshield) which is the prized personal pocession of all welders and one they are loath to change and is carted with them all over the world.
So take this piece of concrete history away and show it a good time.... and while your at it raise a glass to Darren!

This site freakin blows. I can't figure out how to do anything. I dropped the bug off, but I don't know the cache's zip code, so I can't look it up. Apparently I can't post that I dropped the bug without viewing the cache's page. I can't find the cache on this website for the life of me. My GPS is broken and I don't know the bug's traking number!

Hello everybody!
I would like to sincerely apologize for the last two months. My friend (pok3y) and I picked up this tb on December 2. He took it and was supposed to log it. I guess he never did. I would have logged it, but I didn't know the tb tracking number.
Pok3y doesn't have a GPS, but he caches with me. Unfortunately, my GPS (which is a PDA) broke on December 17 (my bday). The screen is completely shattered. In fact we took the tb to Colorado in December, only to not be able to cache.
Thanks to your emails, I learned that pok3y never logged the bug. Fortunately, I now have it. So, here it is!
Once again, I'm very sorry for the turmoil this created.
However, I'm not sure when my poor GPS will be fixed (i don't have a lot of cash). But, I will drop this tb when I get the chance!
Sincerely,
Nick

This TB is no longer in Warren of Townsend. Cache logs show it was removed on Dec 2, 2005. Has not been heard from since. Would really like to meet this TB. Hopes it turns up. skippies

Gladly to share this piece of history, and move it along some more! Maybe a little faster than CaveBoy Ken did! HA! HA!
