Happy to travel the roads, and maybe even visit New Jersey! But, eventually, this trackable would like to come back to one of the caches near home (Lexington MA).
Another in our series of song related trackables.....
Written in early 1974, the song was Bruce Springsteen's final attempt to become successful. The song is a love letter to a girl named Wendy, for whom the hot-rod-riding protagonist seems to possess the passion to love, just not the patience. However, Springsteen has noted that it has a much simpler core: getting out of Freehold NJ. On June 12, 1979, "Born to Run" was named New Jersey's "Unofficial Youth Rock Anthem" by the New Jersey State Assembly, something Springsteen always considered ironic because it was "about leaving Jersey".
Springsteen had released two earlier albums to critical acclaim but with little commercial movement. Born to Run was his third studio album, and was a critical & commercial success. It peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, eventually selling six million copies in the US by the year 2000. Two singles were released from the album: "Born to Run" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out"; the first helped Springsteen to reach mainstream popularity. The tracks "Thunder Road" and "Jungleland" became staples of album-oriented rock radio and Springsteen concert high points.
