3/19/07 UPDATE!!
CACHEPAL AND MISS MARILYN -- REUNITED AT LAST!! (See 3/17 note below for details.)
After a few weeks of rest at home, she'll be on her way again -- starting in Hollywood!
1. MARILYN'S IMMEDIATE GOAL: GRAUMAN'S CHINESE THEATRE IN HOLLYWOOD - right on Hollywood Boulevard.
(A) Take photo of Miss Marilyn next to her own foot-&-handprints made 50 years ago - to promote her first smash hit, 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' (1953). Note that she shared the session with her co-star, Jane Russell.
(B) Take a photo next to Clark Gable's prints. He was her first screen idol, and co-starred in her last film, 'The Misfits'(1961).
2. MARILYN'S SECOND GOAL: BANFF SPRINGS HOTEL AND THE BOW RIVER, ALBERTA, CANADA!! In 1953, Joe DiMaggio proposed to Marilyn at the Banff Springs Hotel, while she was there filming "River of No Return," co-starring Robert Mitchum, directed by Otto Preminger. So we need a picture of Marilyn at that hotel. THEN she needs to 'return' to the BOW RIVER, which flows through Banff National Park -- this IS the "River of No Return," where she actually broke her foot during the shoot! There was some heavy rafting on the river, so if you want to pose her in a raft.... but I'll settle for a shot of her with the river in the background.
Thanks.

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION (2003):
Miss Marilyn's been stuck in L.A. for 41 years.
Flat on her back.
Now she'd like a change of scenery, and she's ready to travel! She hasn't lost her beauty, and is all set for some photo shoots!
As you see, she's got a dog-tag and a driver's license (or a reasonable facsimile thereof!)
She wants to visit a few places that have meaning for her.
ITINERARY:
Please take a snapshot of Miss Marilyn in front of:
1. THE ACTOR'S STUDIO -
432 West 44th Street
New York City
(where she was first taken seriously as an actress)
2. YANKEE STADIUM -
River & E. 161st Street
Bronx, New York
(Home base of her one true love, Joltin' Joe DiMaggio)
3. NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -
(to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of 'Niagara' - one of her first big hits - in 1953)
4. Then it's back to Tinsel Town for a two-shot session at GRAUMAN'S CHINESE THEATRE on Hollywood Boulevard.
(A) Take photo of Miss Marilyn next to her own foot-&-handprints made 50 years ago - to promote her first smash hit, 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' (1953). Note that she shared the session with her co-star, Jane Russell.
(B) Take photo next to Clark Gable's prints. He was her first screen idol, and co-starred in her last film, 'The Misfits'(1961).
Once these destinations have been reached, we'll update Miss Marilyn's Itinerary.
Please take good care of Miss Marilyn -- I'm really going to miss her.

On 5/6, I received the following message from gojoey&Bookworm1:
"Paula said they have a special memorial in the hotel and she is taking the digital camera to get some pictures of her there."
On 5/8 I sent this response:
Joe – Marilyn and I cannot believe her good luck in having been found by you!
Paula – you’re an angel for being so good to her — if only she’d known more people like you & Joe while she was still alive.
Of course, she did have one Joe, who loved her and was true-blue to the very end.
As you may know, "Some Like It Hot," shot at the Hotel Del in 1958-9, was her biggest box office hit and, some say, made better use of Marilyn than did any of her other films. She was fabulous window dressing, and didn’t have to carry the whole production on her insecure shoulders. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis took on that responsibility, with wildly successful results.
Thanks again — hoping to hear from you soon.

Thanks for the update, gojoey & bookworm1, and for bringing her to San Diego -- this is really exciting. When you place her in a San Diego cache, perhaps some kind soul will get her over to the Hotel Del Coronado - she hasn't been there in 47 years! Thanks again.

Thanks very much, tazclimber, for moving Miss Marilyn along, and for helping position her for a flight back to the West Coast.
And thank you, THANK YOU in advance, gojoey & bookworm1, for taking Marilyn to San Diego in May!! I ultimately want her to come back to L.A., but San Diego is also a definite destination. Marilyn wants to have her picture taken on the beach, with the Hotel Del Coronado in the background -- it's the site of her most successful movie, "Some Like It Hot" (1959).
So if you can place her in a San Diego cache, perhaps someone will find her for the Coronado adventure.
Thanks again - thanks very much. I haven't seen Marilyn in 3 years, and it's good to know she's in your care. San Diego, here she comes!!

Thanks, tazclimber, for retrieving Miss Marilyn. It's good to know that she's in your hands. If you can position her in a way which will eventually send her back to L.A., I'll really appreciate it -- and so will Marilyn!

Thanks, Archidad & MudKat, for moving Miss Marilyn along. If you could possibly put her in a busy cache that might ultimately get her back to the West Coast, I'd be much obliged. It's been almost 3 years since I've seen her, and I'm beginning to miss her!
