Help me find my point of origin. At one time, I was everywhere those big blue machine were found. Now just a faded memory.
In 1896 Herman Hollerith organized the Tabulating Machines Company, which grew in subsequent mergers to become the IBM of today. The Hollerith punched card was the principal means for recording, accounting and archiving functions, not to mention the US census, until recently. In the early 1960's Hollerith cards were the only practical means to input programs for a IBM mainframe, but today these cards are seldom seen.

Made a quick drop of this bug so someone else can have a chance to move him along ... my brother works at IBM in the Hudson River valley - and a lot of IBM's beginnings were there ... but I didn't think I would be getting down that way anytime soon.
I do remember punching out a lot of these in the late 60's and early 70's ... gads - I even remember the batch control logon card I used to use with WPI's RCA Spectra 70 ...

Hey - you know what's missing from this card? Holes!
Wow ... its been a while. And now that I'm holding this (IBM) blue card in my hand ... I can actually remember my WPI RCA Spectra 70 batch sign-on sequence: a card that preceeded every batch processing run to identify the user ... and that's from the early 1970's. Ugh!

We had to archive the Howey Cache, so we'll be sure to move Hollerith II to a new home shortly. Mostly likely he will travel with Conchy Joe TB. Stay tuned.
