About This Item

My name is Ed the Ted. I would like to travel and meet other travel bugs. My main aim is to climb high mountains but will make do with hills for a year or so until I get enough experience to climb properly. Please take a picture for my scrapbook as my memory is not as good as it used to be.

An evening walk in the Forest of Bowland. From the Cross of Greet and walking over to Burn Hill (summit/trig), then Hailshowers Fell and across to Bowland Knotts (trig/summit). I had my photo taken at the highest point of the walk, Hailshowers Fell.

This was my second and final munro today, the highest at 1,076m. I got blown off the cairn in the end but managed to hang on until I'd had my photo taken! I'm definitely becoming a hardened mountaineer now.

Today I made it to the 1004m high summit of Beinn an Dothaidh, my first of two munros today. In the first photo you can see the two munros I climbed yesterday, but they didn't have any caches to visit on the tops.

Today I had a long 25 mile walk based around the two munros Stob a' Choire Odhair and Stob Ghabhar. I detoured to the summit Beinn Toaig going up, visited Aonach Eagach on route and then had a walk around Sron nan Giubhas, Stob Ghabhar North Top, Aonach Mor, Creag a' Bhealaich, Sron a' Ghearrain and Stob a' Bhruaich Leith and then detoured to visit Meall an Araich on the way down. That means I visited 2 munros and 9 additional summits! Unfortunately, none had any caches so I can only visit this one at the bottom.

  • Stob Ghabhar (munro summit, 1090m) 1 Behind me is Stob a'Choire Odhair, the lower munro I started with.
  • Stob Ghabhar (munro summit, 1090m) 2
  • Stob a'Choire Odhair (munro summit, 945m) Behind me is Stob Ghabhar, my next target!
  • Meall an Araich (697m) - last summit of the day This was the lowest but the final of the 11 summits I visited today, I joined Dottie and Maurice for a team photo to celebrate and what a good view!
Visited 6/11/2023 meltdiceburg took it to A Front Row Seat #1: Barf North West England, United Kingdom - 1.28 miles  Visit Log
  • Admiring the view over Bassenthwaite from Barf. My final Wainwright of the day!
  • On top of Barf! I also went up the Wainwright in the background (King's Seat), but it didn't have a cache so I can't officially visit it :(
