I will make this clear, one more time:

ANYONE, that had possession of at least THREE of the bugs PRIOR to the date of ARCHIVAL - 12/26/2006, may log the cache by simply contacting me via email, or at any event I am at - usually Cliffsides and Grapevines, or the Uxbridge events.

The bug missions were all CLEARLY changed to "travel freely" on the date of archival.

I am having the bugs all locked down, so feel free to toss them if you find them.

Write note 4/7/2008 trainlove posted a note for it   Visit Log

OK my last assessment was nearly right.
12 people have had 3 of the bugs (not counting those 3 who had done the final sans-4 bugs).
3 of those 12 need this bug #3. But one of them discovered it the other day so maybe he's legally complete.

Now in the interest of disclosure. I intend to release this bug from its dungeon in not quite 24 days. What's special about this year, only the second time since Geocaching started? And how about that Sadie Hawkins? What's my latest geocoin ownership?

I'll put it near the zone of one who I know needs #3 sometime around then, the third person who needs #3 I don't know. I don't think I ever met him in the over 100 events I've gone to.

Now the disclosure is, I'll be posting a note or discovery or place or retrieve or grab it note, each and every day until then. So you watchers maybe stop watching, but then you won't know exactly when it's actually gone.

I, and the following, but I'm not really speaking for them, do hearby hope to see you with your Follow That Bug log book at some future event such as a Cliffsides and Grapevines event, keep it on you like I kept the bug on me today at SNEG. LOL.

I may post a link to the Excel spreadsheet where this info resides. I can categorically state that perhaps there are only 5 or 10 others to list who may have had all 4 bugs but all of those have 1 or more by Note and/or Discovery. Discoveries should be allowed, but notes do not require a, well, you know, so must NOT be...

The State of hostageness is better than the Commonwealth of exile, or the Federation of missingness, or the Republic of stolen. I'm sure that the 24 stated in an earlier log is much longer than it will actually be.

Plus I may possibly place a re-re-incarnation of the VW bug along with the Arachnid when I re-release him.

Stats created in about 20 minutes. Some are apparently due to dual names. Some are tagalongs. some I guess got all 4 but not by Retrieving, Placing or Grabbing. I included Grabbing just because it's possible to need to do that.

Retrieve It from a Cache 4/4/2008 trainlove retrieved it from Ground Zero and a Third Massachusetts   Visit Log

Retrieved from the cache-o-mine that has had many bugs like this in the past. My prior logs mention some bugs this cache has not had, and I know of a half dozen new ones since then and may eventually get those here.

Dropped Off 4/3/2008 trainlove placed it in Ground Zero and a Third Massachusetts - 44.88 miles  Visit Log

We the geocachers of southern New England do hearby state that even though it's technically not a violation of the Cache Permanence section of the guidelines, caches like this should have a much higher tolerance of un-temporaryness. I know at least 20 people who would have adopted it. I know at least 20 people who have moved along all 4 of the bugs and have not been able to do the final.

Don't get me wrong. I knew the minute that Follow That Bug Multi-Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=gchmnv was archived by notification and by watchlist, and was disappointed. I originally thought it was temporary. I think the person who put #3 out on a mountaintop in western Mass did that in protest. Tim had nothing to say, in person, when I showed him bug #3 at his event the day I rescued that bug. I am disappointed that ALL 4 of these bug pages now do not show what their original intent was.

The cache was archived for a reason... so I guess if you want to keep it - I will add it to the inactive list.

Thanks for letting me know.

Retrieve It from a Cache 4/2/2008 trainlove retrieved it from Tatoonie Massachusetts   Visit Log

Rescued this bug from it's exile in Western Mass. This is actually the second bug like this in 2 months that I've rescued from this zone. That other one was the Thoreau Hitchiker.

I'll NOT be placing this bug into a cache in 24 seconds, or 24 minutes (already gone), or 24 hours (nearly there) or 24 days or 24 weeks. But will most likely do it in 24 months.

I.E. I'm holding this bug HOSTAGE until its related cache is reinstated. Hundreds of us New Englandians have traveled hundreds of miles just to get these special bugs.

I'll post up to date statistics of who has had what bug, including all 4 but unable to get the cache, soon. But with 25+26+19+23 pages of logs that a real chore.
