Mission #3:  Skippy is planning a trip to Tokyo

By Bella and River

November 21, 2014

While Skippy visits Tokyo, she might like to see The Rainbow Bridge, which is a suspension bridge over the Tokyo port, on the northern part of the Tokyo bay. Construction on this large bridge started in 1987 and concluded in 1993. The bridge has a total length of 798m, and the height of 126m. This bridge features the three primary colored lights, which allow many different lights effect to be displayed. There are two decks on this major bridge. The top deck carries cars, while the bottom deck has a fully automated (driverless) transit system.

Our cat might like to see the Abeno Harukas, the largest skyscraper in Japan. Abeno Harukas is nine hundred eighty four feet tall. Abeno Harukas has sixty stories above ground and five underground. Abeno Harukas is in Osaka. The largest store in Japan is the Kintetsu which is in Abeno Harukas. Construction of Abeno Harukas began in February 2011. The grand opening of Abeno Harukas was in March 2014.

Mission #2 Skippy is off to China

By Abbigail, Savannah and Savannah

September 3, 2014

We are sending our trackable to China. Our trackable’s name is Skippy the Siamese Cat. When Skippy is in China we would like her to see the Great Wall of China, the Terracotta Army, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

The Great Wall of China is about 3915 miles in length. The Great Wall of China is built in many different sections the largest section is 9 meters (30 ft.). The Great Wall of China opened in 206 BC.  The height of the Great Wall of China is 26 km. or if you prefer (8.00).  The main reason the Great Wall of China was built is to protect the people of China from invaders. The first parts of the wall were built over 2000 years ago.

The Terracotta Army was on a massive burial tomb built for Emperor Qin Shi Huang the first emperor of china. There are 8,000 life size statues of soldiers buried with the emperor. Each soldier had different facial expressions. The Terracotta Army was discovered in 1974 over 2,000 years after they buried. There were 4 main pits that are 21ft. deep.

The Hong Kong Disneyland was built in September 12th 2005. The Disneyland opened December 5th 2007.There is about 5000 cast members. Throughout 2007 and 2014 there have been 43 tourists in Disneyland. 310,000 Minnie mouse ear head bands have been sold since opening.

So that is where Skippy is going and were she will visit for us.

Mission #1 Skippy the Siamese cat is headed to Egypt

By Joon and Joseph

Our group would like Skippy to see Egyptian homes and the lifestyles of people who live in Egypt.  The ancient Egyptians’ life styles where hard because women were not equal to men. Those who would marry would usually marry around 12-14 years old. If any women broke the law, she had to go to court and defend herself. Over 5,000 years ago, the ancient Egyptians wrote things down using picture writing called hieroglyphics. They created a new form of writing called Demotic script. That was most of the things about the Egyptians life style.

An interesting person in Egypt’s history is Ramses, who was born around 1303BC. His father was Seti1 and his mother was Queen Tuye. When, Ramses was age of 15 he was prince of Egypt. He married two main wives. He had about 200 wife concubines. He had about 96 sons and 60 daughters. Ramses took the throne when his father died in 1290BC and began a group of wars against the Syrian. Ramses died around the age of 96.
