Current Goal

The ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-D is a die-cast replica of the most famous starship in the United federation of Planets Starfleet--the USS Enterprise!

The Enterprise began it's journey in the Trogolodytic Visitation cache (GCF17) in Henderson County, North Carolina USA.

GOAL: Take the ENTERPRISE for a spin at high warp...anywhere but hopefully closer to it's lost captian Picard who is now the Borg Drone LOCUTUS
(the Picard/Locutus TB has been forever lost in subspace due to an encounter with a quantum singularity aka: lawn mower).

Be sure to take photos of your travels along the way and post them along with your logs. Thank you SNOOGANS for taking some out of this world photos!! Look at his logs if you want to know what I mean by taking photos of the Enterprise during its travels...he also took the photo below of the huge Klingon (or is the ship small..hhhmmm?)

About This Item

The Enterprise encounters a massive Klingon...

For a somewhat accurate approximation of the distance the Enterprise has traveled, add 8,200 miles to the distance the TB has traveled once you grab it. Before it was an official TB it was a "pre-travel-bug" cache traveler and went on a grand journey all over the USA. You can view it's pre-travel bug travels and photos at it's now archived original Geocaching.com page HERE
.

As a Pre-travel bug traveling geocache it traveled thousands of miles and visited many geocaches and interesting places before returning to spacedock (sector 001 for you trekkies) and being refitted as a travel bug and then continuing on its journey.

For more information on the travels of the Enterprise check out the brief ships log and photos of it's journey below!!

For the story in full please click on the links on this page for much more info and photos of this TB's amazing Trek!

CAPTIAN'S LOG:

STARDATE 0720.01--The ENTERPRISE begins it's journey and travels all over the Earth Continent known as North America...and hopefully beyond.

STARDATE 0928.01--The ENTERPRISE encounters the BORG again and Capt. Picard was abducted and asimilated into LOCUTUS
(again?) by the Borg.

STARDATE UNKNOWN--The ENTERPRISE is lost somewhere in the badlands...it is thought to be stuck in a pocket of dark matter.

http://www.geocaching.com/ STARDATE 0131.03--AFTER GATHERING SOME VITAL INTELEGENCE FROM THE RENEGADE ANDORIAN SMUGGLER KNOWN AS "KNIC"...WE HERE AT STARFLEET COMMAND HAVE LOCATED THE ENTERPRISE!! WE WERE SEARCHING IN THE WRONG PLACE...WE THOUGHT IT WAS LOST IN THE BADLANDS BUT NOW WE KNOW IT WAS LOST AND DRIFTING IN AN AREA OF NULL SPACE NEAR GALORNDON CORE.

Stardate 0617.03: Thanks to "KNIC" communication has been restored with the USS ENTERPRISE and it is again AT HIGH WARP!!

Stardate 1017.03: Enterprise heads home to sector 001 for a refit (with a TB ID tag) afterwhich it will resume the search for it's captian.

Stardate 1105.03: USS Enterprise resumes it's search for Captian Picard/Locutus. It left space dock only to be caught in a wormhole which dumped it out into the Tube Torcher Geocache where it waits to begin the second phase of its hunt(see first log below for the continuing voyges of the ENTERPRISE).

I didn't feel that the enterprise had a long enough stay at Star Trek: The Experience, so I went back and took the behind the scenes tour as well as photos on the bridge.

We were even assimilated by the BORG!

We escaped with no less than 3 Borg cubes in pursuit!😮

Here are the first couple pictures of our journey. The rest will be posted as soon as they are downloaded....

This bug has gone on vacation with me. It has been on Route 66 from Amarillo, TX., to Kingman AZ. It spent a couple days in Las Vegas at the Star Trek Experience, a week in Mammoth Lakes Ca., a day in Yosemite, a couple days in Monterey/Pacific Grove, an afternoon at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. It has crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and spent a week in the Sacramento area area as well.

Now it's headed BACK to Las Vegas (hopefully for a picture on the bridge of the Enterprise D) and on to Houston, Texas to continue on its way.

I took special care to take lots of pictures of this bug's journey with me. They will be loaded next week when I get home.

  • In the Captain's Chair of the Enterprise-D Make it so, numba one!
  • Inside a Borg Assimilation Chamber This borg chamber is an actual movie prop from Star Trek: First Contact. Toooo freakin' kewl!
  • Captured by a live BORG!
  • Andorian encounter!
  • Klingon encounter!
  • Andorian
  • BiiiiG Brother
  • Big brother 2
  • Ferengi under glass
  • Borg Queen in containment field
  • Gorn encounter!
  • The freaky salt vampire from ST: TOS That alien really freaked me out when I was 5 years old.
  • Photon Torpedo This is the actual prop from several Star Trek movies. It was used as Spock's coffin as well in Star Treks II & III. They had to strap it shut to keep visitors from climbing inside.
  • NCC-1701-E Enterprise-D appears to be going into warp.....
  • Voyager fly-bye
  • Cruising the stars
  • Hittin' the road with other TBs The Enterprise-D Had a prominent position for the 6,000 mile journey.
  • Landing on an ice planet. Possibly Andoria? It was the first week of July and they are STILL skiing on Mammoth Mtn. They were open for skiing for over 300 days this season!!! A record snow year.
  • 11,053 Feet in elevation! Looking West from the top of Mammoth Mtn. That's the Silver Divide.
  • The Ritter Range Looking North from Mammoth Mtn.
  • Flying into the chasm. My Hardcore caches are hidden on the ridge in the upper right corner of this picture.
  • Ritter and Banner peaks That's chair 13 to the left of the peaks. That's one scary a$$ chair to ride too. Almost 2,000 feet virticle and NO seat belt! There's about a 900 foot drop over the chasm. I did it once and NEVER again.
  • Rainbow Falls at Devils Postpile National Monument
  • See the Rainbow?
  • Scanning Devils Postpile National Monument Dang, this TB sure has seen its share of national monuments huh?
  • WTF!!! These were the gas prices in Lee Vining, CA How the heck do I get my Xterra to run on Dilithium Crystals???
  • Sand tufa formations at Navy Beach on Mono Lake If you've seen the movie K-Pax, up close shots of these formations were used in a dream sequence of the alien's homeworld. They really must be seen in person to be appreciated fully.
  • Sand tufa
  • Alien landscape
  • More alien landscape The brief shots of the alien landscape in K-Pax look most like THIS shot....
  • Alien castle
  • Inside the castle
  • Yosemite Falls at near record volume! There was soooo much snow in the high country that all the falls were totally AWESOME! Been here at least 20 times and never seen 'em so full. We must have been too awestruck to remember to take a pic of the TB. Sorry. :(
  • On the east end of Lake Thomas Edison, Ca. From Yosemite we went to Vermilion Vally Resort in the Kaiser Wilderness. We were lucky enough to be the very first renters of their brand spanky new Yurt. We trekked into the John Muir Wilderness for the day and took the TB along. Sadly this is the only shot I remembered to take of the TB. DOH!
  • The Monterey Bay Aquarium If you remember, many scenes from Star Trek IV were shot here....
  • Enterprise-D's MBA Fly-bye We spent a day there and got a room at the Beachcomber Inn right on Asilomar Beach in Pacific Grove. Many hours were spent climbing on rocks and looking into tide pools.
  • View from the geocache, Sounds of the Bay GC30CB has been one of my favorite caches for nearly 4 years. I hafta stop bye whenever I'm in SF. I just love this unique spot.
  • A closer shot of Alcatraz from GC30CB
  • After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge We drove north on the Pacific Coast Highway from Monterey to San Raphel. It's one of the most scenic drives in the U.S. My favorite part of the PCH however, is the 100 or so miles of it that are just south of Monterey on the Big Sur section.
  • Scanning San Francisco across the bay Sorry Captain, you're a few hundred years early reporting to Starfleet Academy.
  • Snoogz & The Snoogstress
  • Looks like the BORG assimilated another colony!!! Berringer Crater aka Meteor Crater (Az.) fly-bye on the way home.
  • Meteor Crater Panorama shot #1
  • Meteor Crater Panorama shot #2
  • Meteor Crater Panorama shot #3
  • Meteor Crater Panorama shot #4 4 Pictures just doesn't do it justice. If placed at the bottom, the Washington monument wouldn't reach above the rim of the crater. I've been here many times, but the crew of the Enterprise sensed Borg activity and wanted to investigate.
  • Landing on a HUGE Asteroid in deep space.
  • Large meteroite fragment This is a large fragment of the actual meteor that created Meteor Crater.
  • The Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas This is probably THE most famous landmark on Route 66.
  • Encounter at Farpoint! These jellies at the Monterey Bay Aquarium look just like the aliens from the ST: TNG Pilot episode.

I wanted this bug sooooo bad at GW3, but I never saw hide nor hair of it. It landed in my hands as head TB wrangler at GW4 and I didn't let go!

I'm a huge Star Trek fan. I have every episode of every series on DVD except the as yet unreleased animated series from the 70's.

This bug will be one of a select special group of travelers to accompany me on vacation. It may get some special treatment at Star Trek: The Experience, in Las Vegas, if I have the time. I also hope to take a pic of it at the Original Stash if I make it that far.

Sorry for the late log.
