The John Deere travel bug started its journey in Middlebury, VT and would like to travel to a cache within 25 miles of Grand Detour, IL. He likes the company of other tractors so if you have any other small tractors to accompany John Deere, feel free to attach them.
The bug has made it close to its destination and is now ready to return to Vermont. Thanks for all the tractor "friends"! We can't wait to see the bug when it returns.
John Deere was born in Rutland, Vermont in 1804 and lived most of his early years in the town of Middlebury, VT. In Middlebury, John Deere apprenticed as a blacksmith and learned the blacksmithing trade. In 1837, John Deere packed up and moved to Grand Detour, IL. While employed as a blacksmith in Grand Detour, John Deere experimented with a broken saw blade that eventually became his first plow. The plow soon became a high demand item and was the start of the company that is today famous for the green-as-grass John Deere tractors.
