Die Grafen von Montfort sind eine Seitenlinien der Pfalzgrafen von Tübingen.
Vor 1208 nennt sich Hugo I., der jüngere Sohn Hugos II. von Tübingen erstmals nach der von ihm unweit von Feldkirch in Vorarlberg errichteten Burg "de Munfort".
Um 1250 spalten sich die Grafen von Werdenberg ab; vor 1274 teilten sich die Montforter ihrerseits in die zeitweise noch weiter aufgesplitterten Linien: Montfort-Feldkirch, Montfort-Tettnang und Montfort-Bregenz.
1787 stirbt das Geschlecht aus.
Das Wappen der Montforter orientiert sich am Wappen der Pfalzgrafen von Tübingen und zeigt eine rote Kirchenfahne mit drei Hängeln und drei Ringen auf silbernem Grund. Auf dem Helm eine rote Inful, deren Spitzen mit je einer silberner Kugel besetzt ist.

The Counts of Montfort are side lines of Count Palatine of Tübingen (Germany).
1208 Before Hugo, the younger son Hugh II called I.. Tubingen first time after erected not far from Feldkirch in Vorarlberg he castle "de Munfort".
Around 1250, the Counts of Berg split off; before 1274, the Montfort divided in turn into the temporarily further fragmented lines: Montfort-Feldkirch, Montfort-Tettnang and Montfort-Bregenz.
1787 dies from sex.
The coat of arms of Montfort is based on the coat of arms of the Counts Palatine of Tübingen and shows a red flag with three church Hängeln and three rings on a silver background. On the helmet, a red miter, the tips of which is occupied with one silver bullet.
