Building Matrix

My Dad was a carpenter by hobby and always went by the rule Measure Twice, Cut Once.    One can always cut off more, but not add on to something already made too short.   

In Geocaching we sometimes have to look twice or more times before we find a cache.

1.5/1.5 - Work has had me pinned down for over a month, thus my recent record was clear except for one OM log. An easy start to get me out of the house today.

Officially 2.0/2.0. Today 2.0/6.0. A bright sunny, but chilly morning was enjoyed exploring the Old Homestead Trail. However, the trail suffered extensive damage from many blowdowns during a July windstorm, thus is impassable as it proceeds up a stream valley and along a ridgeline. Walked on steep hillside of loose rocks and sticks covered by a fresh bed of oak leaves, thus a two hour hike required four hours to complete. Was so exhausted that I forgot to include the TB riding in my shirt pocked in the attached picture of Watauga Lake far below.

3.5/4.0 - new combo (29th D/T found). Being a new set was the deciding factor for taking this 4.8 mile uphill (6% grade for ~1400 ft elevation gain) today. I performed some clipping trail maintenance, enjoyed the fall color, replaced the damaged geocache for long-time friend, and hauled out trash... while allowing this TB to visit the renovated firetower. It was a good day...

3.0/3.0 new combo. Just when I thought I was having trouble getting new squares on the grid. This one was a bit over-rated. Interesting as these are wood vats where oil was collected after being pumped from the ground in the very early years of the Pennsylvania oil boom.

Done with PA, so heading south to GA next. May have a 3.0/4.5 if gumption and time to hike that far.

2.5/3.0 - already have this combination. It was a 2.0 mile walk along gameland forest road to a steep descent into a stream bed. Nicely hidden ammo can. Return trip was going 3.3 mph until I saw a brown bear, thus finished the last mile and quarter at nearly 4.0 mph!

I believe I might be running out of combinations to find, thus might release this TB as soon as I can print out its tracking grid. It's been a fun companion.
