I have had a great time working the Geodyssey puzzles. I discovered them on the evening before my birthday in February, and it felt like the best birthday gift ever. I made quick progress through the first 12 puzzles. I absolutely love Puzzle 13. I gleefully worked through it until I got stuck on the second-to-last step. I carried it around with me everywhere, knowing an idea could pop into my head at any time. After a week of that, it eventually found its way atop a bookcase, coming down once in awhile for a session of wistful pondering. Then came the (belated) Leap Day hint and, "What!?! I already tried that so many times! I must have looked straight at it again and again and didn't see the answer!" Happily solved, I quickly finished the rest of the set, up to the last step. Once again, I was stumped. It took weeks until I found the link to the final. The key that unlocked the door for me was to apply Occam's Razor: the simplest explanation is most likely to be the correct one.
Thank you, Mr. Peterson, Master Puzzle Artisan, for opening my eyes to a world of puzzle types I had never seen before. My favorites were the more visually oriented ones, numbers 1, 2, 9, 11, 13, and also 12 because of the music. Speaking of which, in my belated Leap Day email, I forgot to mention my favorite Jonathan Coulton song. I'll put it this way: doing these puzzles often made me think that if these puzzles could talk, they would chant, "All we want to do is eat your brains!"
