grampa (or grumpy as I sometimes need to call him) was showing me around

up grouse creek and we got this pireate out from a frozen cache. Needed to

get him back in out of the weather so we came and found these stumps.

  • the kid at a spring-board stump shows how high the notch is from the ground
so the feller could get above the swelled butt.

the kid and I were trudgeing thru the deep snow when we heard
some scalywag a hollerin' about needing help. We had to dig
into the ice and snow for quite awhile 'fore we could see that
ol' J. Silver was imprisoned in ice and frozen logs. We had to
kick and pry to get him loose. all the while he was say how
he would let us have some treasure if we could just get him
out of there. Well, we did but he just kept fibbing about some
fine treasure. So we figured to just put him into another
frozen stump til he saw things our way. If we don't get back
for a while he may give all his gold to someone else.
well good luck and good ridance to that bum.
