About This Item

Captains Lewis & Clark

Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the leaders of the Corps of Discovery, need your help on their cross-country expedition to visit all of the fifty states, meeting indigenous geocaching peoples wherever they may be within the United States. The Corps has completed its first goal of finding portage to the Pacific Ocean and reporting back to President Jefferson (2002-2009). The Corps' goal now is to travel throughout the United States to meet and have councils with various geocaching "nations". The explorers are accompanied by their good luck charm, Sacagawea (at least in numismatic form) as well as Seaman, Captain Lewis' dog. DO NOT take this bug and/or its cache unless you are going to move the Corps of Discovery to a new location in a new state! Maps of the Corps' travels with the history of their original expedition are enclosed with the Captains for your edification.

Please note the following:
1. Please DO NOT put the Corps in an extremely difficult or remote location! The object is to get them to all fifty states and back, not to strand them. DO NOT put the Corps in a location that is likely to be plundered by muggles or confiscated by overzealous park rangers. We don't want to lose the Corps to hostile action.
2. DO have fun with these intrepid explorers as we celebrate the bicentennial (and beyond) of their historic journey.
3. DO take pictures recording the travels of the Corps of Discovery as they again explore the Louisiana Territory (and the rest of the USA) including pictures with indigenous people they encounter as well as recruits that enlist in the Corps' mission. In particular, pictures of the duo at any of their old stomping grounds would be ideal.
