This African shield is a miniature replica of the traditional Zulu shield used by the Zulu warriors from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The Zulu warrior chief Shaka’s early 19th-century campaign to expand the Zulu nation, known as the mfecane, led to large-scale migrations that expanded from what is now Tanzania to Cape Province.
