Current Goal

Please take me to your local fire station* and ask nicely if you can have a picture taken of me (with you and/or a firefighter if you wish) in front of their fire appliance. Then send a copy of that picture to - allan.bairstow@btinternet.com - so I can update the bug gallery and my travel bug page which can be found at - (visit link)
I would love to travel the world and see lots of different fire engines in different countries.
* Please check the log/website to avoid duplicating fire stations.

About This Item

At home before its travels !

This is a red toy UK fire engine from the early part of the 20th century. It is a 1988 reproduction of an earlier Matchbox model from the early 1960's. It has been very well looked after by me for many years but it is now time for it to travel about and has some fun !

Sorry for holding on to this little truck for so long! I forgot I had it for a few months and when I finally realised I still had it in my possession I wanted to take a photo of it and a real Swedish firetruck before letting it move on. I thought there were a bit thin on actual firetruck photos here!

Anyway, this morning I found a fire in the forest and called the Swedish fire department. As they were packing up I remembered the bug that I have been keeping in my backpack for months now. I ran to get it and snapped a quick photo before they drove off.

I will see what I can do on the island, maybe he will have to wait until I get to the mainland.

As an end to a lovely MC trip, I stopped by and dropped a TB Fire engine that I picked up in UK last week. I showed him the local fire station, but all the doors were closed and no vehicles to spot. I trust the local Geocachers will continue to show him our beautiful Island Gotland!

  • Is there any body home there? Outside the Visby Fire Station we cold not spot any one from the station.
