About This Item

Gavin's Flat Stanley with his Travel Bug

"Flat Stanley" is the title of a book written by Jeff Brown about a boy named Stanley Lambchop.
When Stanley was flattened (but not hurt) by a falling bulletin board, his family discovered that they could put him in an envelope and mail him around the world.
Teachers around the country have picked up on this idea and have their students make their own Flat Stanleys to mail to friends and relatives. The "Stanleys" are sometimes returned to the student, and sometimes sent even farther.
Gavin's original Flat Stanley has been returned to him, but I hope this travel bug will keep traveling and helping Gavin learn about the world for years to come.

Calvin found Garvin's Flat Stanley in Aiken SC. He was at the libary. I guess using his new book skills to study bird watching books. Well, he will go on a Audubon Christmas Bird count Dec 17th.in Augusta Ga. and on another count Dec 24th. in Aiken SC. He will then go to Sapelo Island Ga on Dec.30. For the Christmas bird count there too. I will place him back on the road soon after that.

I sent Stanley with my mother (another Geocacher) to go back to my home state of PA for a while. She sent him back with the folling note and pictures:
While Flat Stanley was visiting in Pennsylvania, he decided he would pursue his education.
Flat Stanley entered East Stroudsburg University. He loved school and excelled in his classes.
In no time at all Flat Stanley graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism program.
Once he got his degree, Stanley was eager to get back on the road. Now he’s even more interested in traveling.

Attached are three pictures that show Flat Stanley at picturesque East Stroudsburg University, PA.

He also has some ESU memorabilia with him now.

Only one picture will load. I'll try to load the other two ASAP.
