To tell people of the world about Geocaching!
How?
When you log your find of this bug, make sure to either call Ian Jones of Radio Canada International at (514) 528-8821 or e-mail him at
mapleleafmailbag@rcinet.ca and tell him who you are and where you found the bug. Make sure you tell him that you found "THE BEAR's BUG."
And to make this bug a little more fun, how about putting one of your old keys on the keychain!
The "Maple Leaf Mailbag" is a great listener-based program on Radio Canada International. The host, Ian Jones, reads letters and plays voice mail messages from listeners, and will often call listeners for on-the-air chats! In fact, that's the genesis of this bug.
One day, Ian had his sister-in-law on the show and she was talking about Geo-Caching. I sent Ian a message telling him about my interest in Geo-Caching, and he called me and put me on his show to tell his listeners more about our hobby. He then sent me a ton of Radio Canada swag for caches, and this bug is the first of many with Radio Canada souvenirs.
You can listen to the program even if you don't have a shortwave radio! Just click on the following logo:
and go to "Latest Program" or "Archives." There you'll find all the programs, ready for you to listen.
And when you log your find of this bug, make sure to either call Ian at (514) 528-8821 or e-mail him at mapleleafmailbag@rcinet.ca and tell him who you are and where you found the bug. Who knows, he may put you on the air!

When I saw this TB listed in the trackable list I read the details, but then forgot all about it until stanhews walked past me with it and stopped to tell us about it .... that's when I remembered it, so Stan gave it to me (with my caching name - I had to have it 🙂 )
I will write an email about the Wild West Christmas Bash .... in June! and let you know what happens.

Retrieved from my event and I will drop it at another event this weekend, this is what I sent to Ian;
Hi Ian, my name is Stanley Matthews and I'm a geocacher (stanthews), I hold an event cache every month where cachers get together to meet, chat and have fun, my event is held in a town called Devizes, Wiltshire, UK, the event is known as A Wiltshire Event (http://coord.info/GC2WP23) and the 11th one was last Saturday, at event caches we have a trackables box so that cachers can take and leave travel bugs and coins, it was in this box that I found the BEAR's BUG and I decided to do as it asks and write to you, I don't know how much you know about geocaching so I am hoping that I haven't confused you at all, it is nice to know that people like yourself is spreading the word of geocaching as it is a wonderful sport, hobby, pastime or whatever, I am going to another event this weekend and will drop the travel bug Maple Leaf Mailbag #3 - The Bear into that event so that in can be discovered by lots more people. All the best with your broadcasting and keep well.
Stan.
