I'll admit it, I was along for the scenery. I only had the coords because jcar gave them to me. He and Allanon and I set out for the cache the wrong way, but it's okay; we got to see the effects of the flooding here. From the Tao Te Ching, chapter 78: Nothing is so soft and weak as water, yet nothing is as effective as water for overcoming enduring strength and rigidity. That's so evident by the number of giant tree has-beens deposited here enmasse, seemingly tossed like tiny matchsticks. Our path crossed over them, a true challenge for me, but it happily reminded me of my childhood days with my brother, scrambling over obstacles just for the sheer joy of being able to get past. We were soon back on the trail, where flora and flauna were abundant. Bringing up the rear of our party, as usual, I was intrigued by the presence of invisible creatures here; I heard a large animal to my left, but it wouldn't appear for me, and saw evidence of a bobcat who left remnants of its fuzzy lunch on the trail. The wild sweetpeas were everywhere! Thithleth...er...thistles, too. Saw what I believe to be a tiger swallowtail flutterby, warming in the early morning sun, preparing for its first flight of the day. Several garter snakes were seen slithering into the tall grass to avoid us, and a young, lone deer accompanied us for a while, curious about us, yet wary.
I don't know that I would have done the math to find this cache; it's literally not about the numbers for me, but just being out, enjoying what man simply cannot recreate. Having a cache to find is a pleasant bonus or the catalyst that gets me out in the first place. However comma...I'm thankful that jcar had solved this one, else I'd have missed the truly delightful experience of just "being" here. Thanks for the opportunity.
I've been carrying around a traveling geocoin for a while now; I've logged it into some really special caches. This cache is a worthy place to turn it over to its next porter. My friend to whom the coin belongs would highly approve of this wondrous place. Thanks for the cache. 🙂
