1st Woodville Beavers TB

Our mission is to travel around the UK and the world visiting as many interesting locations, scout troops and camp sites as possible. Our Beavers will follow its progress and plot its route so please post photos of its travels so that we can keep a log of its adventures.

It would also be great if other groups got in touch, especially if from oversees.

This Travel Bug was placed by 1st Woodville Beavers as part of working towards their Adventure Challenge Award. This award is spread over the 2 years children are in Beavers to give them a balanced programme of activities.

1st Woodville (St Stephens) Scout Group is located in Woodville in the Heart of the National Forest in South Derbyshire. Originally founded in 1945 by Reverend Arnould Herbert Hurt, the vicar at St Stephens Church between 1945 and 1959 and the father of the famous actor John Hurt CBE. The group just started with a handful of Scouts and now has grown to a thriving group of three sections (Beaver, Cubs & Scouts) and over 80 youth members, leaders and helpers.  The celebrated its 70th Anniversary in September 2015 and continues to grow year on year. In recognition to the group’s achievements, we were this year awarded the District Group of the Year 2019. 

Adventure and fun is at the heart of everything we do. It is the single most important thing that sets Scouts apart. Through the everyday adventure of Scouting, young people and adult volunteers of the 1st Woodville (St Stephens) Scout Group regularly experience new challenges that enrich their lives.
