About This Item

Shellcase Penny TB

The Lincoln Cent was minted with the wheat ears reverse from 1909 to 1958. In 1943 cents were made from steel due to a shortage of copper resulting from the war effort, and from 1944 to 1946 cents were made out copper from recycled shell casings.

We found this one in a neat cache in Spring Green Wisconsin. We'll drop it there, then retrieve it so it gets some of the miles it's earned.

As for piquing interest in coin collecting.....too late! Trekkin' is an avid collector and I'll make sure this penny stays right in its sleeve! 😉
