There was a London Cachers outing to Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, the home of author Roald Dahl. We were after a night cache with a high DT. After a few chilly hours stomping around the woods and solving all the puzzles, the cache was successfully found by our team of 15 cachers. Originally I thought that so many cachers might be a disaster but it turned out to be the perfect number. Good fun. 🔦

Took the train to Dartford to the east of London. It’s where Mick Jagger and Keith Richards went to school together. Mick moved away but they met again at Dartford Station in 1961 and formed the Rolling Stones. Yes, that’s 60+ years ago. This was a rare day when my geocaching team ran into another geocaching team. We thought we looked everywhere for a cache but had a DNF. They looked and found the cache - and a sizeable drone. Shows how well we really looked…… 🎸

Welcome back to the United Kingdom! I’ve busy with work but it was a low traditional cache find day on my calendar today. Walked down to the Thames at Hammersmith, London, for a cache near the Lancelot “Capability” Brown statue. Capability was an English gardener and landscape architect, who remains the most famous figure in the history of the English landscape garden style. In 1751 ‘Capability’ Brown moved to Hammersmith Mall beside the Thames with his wife, Bridget and their young family. Here he stayed for 13 years until being appointed Royal Gardener by George III with a grace and favour house at Hampton Court Palace. 🇬🇧

Met up with some London cachers and found some high FP caches in Hannover before heading out of town to a challenge cache. Celebrated the completion of my second D/T grid - took forever to get the final one. Got to be careful of the ice today. 🍾

And back in Hannover for the Mega - 3 Könnigsgrillen. The EO dressed up as a King and BBQs sausages all day. The funnies part - he does it in his back yard. His wife must really love him. Unfortunately it started to rain so we said our goodbyes and moved into the webcam near Hildesheim and thought we’d go to central Hildesheim to find a virtual. Wow! So glad we made the effort. The square was really beautiful, especially when it started to snow. 🌭

Webcams! Got to love Germany for them and today I found two with you in beautiful Bremen. I had a friend from Bremen once - Dagmar Beese. If you happen to know her, let me know. In 2004, the Bremen Roland statue and the Bremen City Hall were added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of their outstanding architecture and testimony to the development of civic autonomy in the Holy Roman Empire. Pity it was pouring with rain. Bremen is also home to the Bremen Town Musicians or Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten, a German fairytale collected by the Brothers Grimm. 🎻

Herzlich Willkommen in Deutschland. Welcome to Germany. Every travel bugs’ worst nightmare. You could get trapped in the notorious German TB Vortex forever. You’ve flown into Hannover, Niedersachsen/Lower Saxony. I took you around the city but it was a tiring and frustrating experience. I’ve cached in 35 countries, I speak some German. This was not foreigner accessible caching! There is no English equivalent of Strandkorb. Still, the city is pretty. 🇩🇪
