About This Item

Hockey was such a big part of my life growing up. I wasn’t even 2 when I learned to skate. My father use to make a mini ice rink in my back yard for my sister and I to learn to skate. It was amazing and funny at the same time. When I was 5 I was put into hockey. I should mention this was 1990, and I was a girl. It’s not uncommon for girls to play hockey now, but at the time there were only every a handful playing. In fact I was the only girl on my team for years until I joined the first all girl’s hockey team in Calgary, Ab, Canada. I hated it! I was 8 yr old was the youngest on the team with the oldest being 17. I was also the best play by leaps and bounds as I had already been skating since I was 2 and had been playing guy’s hockey for 2 years already. After that I refused to play girl’s hockey for almost 10 years. When I did play again I was happy that things had gotten so much better for girl’s teams.

I was never going to make it big playing hockey. I always saw it as a fun thing to keep me in shape and healthy. But that doesn’t mean I don’t still wish I could travel the world going to all the great areas. That is what I want this Zamboni to do. As most know Zambonis clean the ice before a game starts. Bring this Zamboni to a game and take a picture. Or just keep it moving from one area to the next :)
