Current Goal

The goal of this bug is to visit all 50 State High Points in the United States.

About This Item

This bug was released at the Maryland High Point in Garrett County as was his predecessor State High Point Seeker. The State High Point Seeker Bug visited the Maryland and Pennsylvania High Points and then took a trip to Arizona where it has been MIA since January 2002. Hopefully this bug can do better. If you are going to a High Point, take the bug with you and place it in a cache located there, or if there is not one, maybe you could start one. A digital picture of the bug at the high point would also suffice. If you are not sure where high points are located the following web page is a great reference:

Please feel free to email the owner if there are any questions, and don't forget to fill out the log book attached to the bug so everyone can follow the bug's travels.
State High Points visited so far: (that I can tell from the logs)
Maryland, Backbone Mountain - 3360'
Delaware, Ebright Hill - 448'
Vermont, Mt. Mansfield - 4393'
Indiana, Hoosier Hill - 1257"

Retrieve It from a Cache 10/9/2004 unique retrieved it from Truckstop Blackberries Ohio   Visit Log

Will be attempting to find out the highest point in Ohio so we can help him in his travels. Will move him on real soon.

Seeker is still with us; the dilemma is that he hasn't hit ALL the high points in NE yet, but he's been around these states for quite a while, and we'll have a chance to move him to the mid-west in late September... so, we think he'll stay with us but if anyone in the Chittenden County, Vermont area is watching him and wants to take him along to a high point he hasn't seen, post a note and we'll put him back in the truck stop for you. Otherwise, he's off to Ohio next month.

Grab It (Not from a Cache) 8/2/2004 Cache Cowz grabbed it   Visit Log

We didn't exactly grab it from pmickel; we found this bug in the O&L Travel Bug Truckstop cache, and decided to give it a lift, being the basset hound lovers we are. Pmickel has not yet had a chance to log the drop. As this TB has already hit the top of Vermont, we will attempt to move him on toward another state.

Retrieve It from a Cache 7/17/2004 pmickel retrieved it from Not Quite Under a Hill Vermont   Visit Log

Sorry this travel bug has been MIA for a while. We took him from Not Quite Under a Hill on 6/26/04, since we couldn't tell if he had been to the top of Vermont or not. He now has been! We had a beautiful, clear and cool day through lunch, but then it clouded over and we got thoroughly soaked on our trip down. Such is the weather in VT. We were going to keep him and take him to Mt Washington, (NH), and Mt Katahdin, (ME), in Sept when we go, but decided to put him into a travel bug cache for now and if he is still there when we go, we will take him along. So, assuming we can find it, we will drop him off at O&L Travel Bug Truckstop within the next day or so.
    Happy hikes...Ravensmate

Found this cute little TB; since it had already been to the top of Vermont, I decided to leave it for someone headed to another state.

Finally had a chance to drop this TB off. If it's still there in the fall I'll see about taking it to Mt. Washington in NH.

We are taking it back to Vermont with us and then we plan to take it up Mt. Mansfield, VT's highest peak. If there is not too much snow we will leave it in a cache as close to Mt. Mansfield as possible.

Retrieve It from a Cache 6/7/2003 Casey's Crew retrieved it from Geo Jamboree New York   Visit Log

We found State High Point II trying to stay dry at the Geo Jamboree in eastern New York. He looked like he needed a dry place to stay for a while, so we took him home. We'll look up the high point for Connecticut and see about getting him there.
