The mission of ROUTE 66 NT is to travel Route 66 and all the other historic American highways. Then to report back to all of us stuck at home vagabond wantabes.
What could be sadder than a 57 CHEVY that just sits in a garage? That is no more my friends. Its out of that dark, dusty prison and back on the road where it belongs. And not just any road. We are talking the ROAD. The MOTHER road. Talked about, sung about and written about.
SIDE STORY: I tend to do this all the time. I hope you don't mind. There's a still in operation Indian Trading Post about 50 miles west of Albuquerque. "What was that question, sir?" "What road is it on?" "THE ROAD" I took a picture of it a while back along with several others on that ROAD. Then I just happened to look at a Picture Book of 'THE ROAD' down at a local Albuquerque bookstore. There was the place. And you aren't gonna believe who stayed there. I forgot to tell you it had some motel rooms in the rear. It was none other than Papa his ownself! You know, HEMINGWAY. He is reported to have written several chapters of 'The Old man and the Sea'while staying there.
