This is a really great large cache. A few of the TBs elected to take a picture of it so that you at home could see the awesomeness. It was voted 1 of 8 best Geocaches for beginners to do. It’s marked so brightly that nobody could miss it, unless you don’t know the name of the game.

This is our last cache in Florida as we are now finished with all the counties in the peninsula of Florida. The panhandle will be another trip. This is a super duper nice and locked TB hotel where we left a few of our smaller bugs. They will be comfortable and pampered here.

This was a really fun cache although it gave us a heart attack when we opened the door and found the greeting party was a SNAKE!! I’m not a snake expert, so when Super_Nate and I spotted the snake all curled up and happy in the cache, we figured it was a corn snake, but weren’t about to try out a bite. So we gently attempted to help it out from around the cache without success. The cache owner has since stated it was a corn snake and it has been rehomed.
The snake was very beautiful, but enough about the snake... This cache is absolutely beautiful itself!!!! It is so professional and well kept! I was very impressed and happy to leave TBs here. It was a mailbox encased in a nice wooden structure and did not look run down.
Super_Nate and I have seen so many cool animals on our southern Florida caching trip, let’s see... turtles, grasshoppers, a gazillion types of birds, dolphins, Amarillo, Alligators, dogs, cats, lots of fishies, a click beetle, crabs, otters, raccoons, and a snake. I feel like I am missing some more! Oh... lots of mosquitos!!!! All those animals have been so neat and fun to meet, except for that last one...

There had been a beast of a storm that had just gone through, so to get to this cache Super_Nate had to hop over a nice creek. Navigating through the gigantic mosquitos, he was victorious in grabbing the cache and bringing it back out to me. The cache resides in a really nice residential area, but probably won’t be here much longer because they are building a property and home right next to it.

We found the smaller post office in the US by accident!!! We were driving along in the Everglades and saw this tiny shed, pulled over and were stunned to learn of its story. Apparently a fire took out their normal office and for some reason they converted their irrigation pipe shed into a post office. Haha!!

Not far from this cache we stopped by an alligator sanctuary and watched a show with a gator and his guy. The gator, Charlie, was a big guy... about 400 lbs, and he was nice and chill, even when his guy opened his mouth waved hands in the mouth hoping it wouldn’t snap shut. Thankfully it didn’t. After the the gator show, we all got to hold babies gators. They are surprisingly soft and cuddly!!! They loved being scratched right on the back of their necks. Here is a picture of Casper, Super_Nate and I.
After the gator show, we rode an hour long Airboat tour. It took us through the Everglades trees. We got to meet a huge gator and a group of 5 tree raccoons which we fed dog biscuits to. The gator also ate some of the biscuits, but I think he was secretly hoping a raccoon would fall..
Such a fun day!!!

I am happy to announce that I have gotten to see a HUGE alligator, in the wild, and saw his full body! I was even about 2 feet from him cuz the boardwalk (where I was) was right on top of him. Actually we saw 2 alligators. The first one was a smaller one swimming in the large pond, and then as we continued the board walk, we came upon a 10 ft gator. Now a gator specialist that we met later estimated that this guy is about 30 to 35 years old and can probably only move 8 mph since there is not much he is afraid of. Sooooo cool! The dude just lay there in the shade, listening to us talk about him. He did move a foot (not measurement... his actual foot! 😹)
Oh yes and we did see and get a geocache. Also Super_Nate got bit by a 5 inch cricket that I made him hold... 🙈 And we saw lots of fish, turtles, and birds.

I’m so excited to be making a smiley out of this cache because I’ve always wanted to come to the Everglades for years!! I’ve also always wanted to see a full live alligator and I have high hopes that I will see one today. Previously eyes have been all that I’ve spotted on a night hunt for them. So bring on all the wildlife and the beautiful scenery!!! It’s so cool to be getting a cache at a National Park Visitor Center!

We made this a quick find among the many many people. We used our biggest stealth mode and it seemed to work well. We have been enjoying the island today, but this cache is like the top of our list to get. So fun to be at mile marker 0 of US 1. Now it would be fun to drive it all the way up to the top, but I guess that’s for another trip. We found a really neat gift shop and actually crossed off all our Christmas gifts for December, so it was like Christmas in July!! 😹 But when are you at two cool places as once very often during the year?
