This little abacus has a burning desire to visit the Broom Bridge, in Ireland. This Mecca for mathematicians is the place where Sir William Rowan Hamilton first wrote down the fundamental formula for quaternions on October 16, 1843. These numbers, i, j, and k (known as Hamiltonian numbers) are similar to complex numbers, but have the unique property of being non-commutative for multiplication. For example: ij=1, but ji=-1.
On his journey to Ireland, Quaternion would very much enjoy visiting any place of mathematical significance or history.
