Well. it seems very likely that this butterfly was netted (i.e. stolen) by some geocacher or other. It was dropped into a cache in Texas, a little north of San Antonio, nearly three years ago. A few months and a couple of dozen Finds of that cache later, not one person mentions it. However, another geocoin that was dropped into that cache a month or so later was definitely stolen; the owner went back to the cache to see why no one picked it up, despite a few Finds, and his coin was gone, with no mention of it in any log 👎 We would not have know any of this except that 22wander posted a Note on our geocoin that it wasn't there.
So, we are retrieving this, and will give it a nice burial in a nearby, archived cache of ours. And now for the obligatory "rant" for these situations...
WE HOPE THAT SOMEONE IS JUST BEING VERY SLOW TO LOG THIS, OR THAT THEY FORGOT ABOUT IT, OR MAYBE DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT IT REALLY WAS; IF THIS IS THE CASE, PLEASE RETRIEVE IT, AND THEN DROP IT INTO ANOTHER CACHE AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE. THANK YOU!
HOWEVER...
IF YOU TOOK THIS GEOCOIN WITH NO INTENTION OF MOVING IT ALONG, YOU ARE A THIEF!! WE OWN THIS GEOCOIN; WE SENT IT OUT INTO THE WORLD FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO ENJOY AND TO MOVE ALONG. YOU CANNOT SELL IT OR ADOPT IT; YOU CAN'T EVEN SHOW IT TO OTHERS WITHOUT RISKING THEM FINDING OUT THAT YOU ARE A PETTY CRIMINAL. WE HOPE THAT YOU GET A CONSCIENCE AND DROP THIS INTO A CACHE SOON.
IF YOU SEE THIS GEOCOIN IN THE COLLECTION OF ANOTHER CACHER, BE AWARE THAT IT IS STOLEN PROPERTY.
