I took a walk down from Red Box late this morning with MamaMia. Nice spot... We had a creek-side bite to eat before moving on.
The cache interior has taken on an "old" scent, but it is dry and in perfectly good shape... the log sheet had become ever so slightly damp but was easily dried out.
On the outside, the container is in great shape, blocking out all the elements, some of which were spiders... lots of webbing on the outside. We signed the freshly dried log sheet, and I dropped off a pathtag.
Both, the trail and the road down (previously closed to allow for re-vegitation) are now open to foot traffic and, there is work being done to improve the road. Who knows... perhaps Camp Hi Hill has some sort of future ahead.

Decons seem to last extremely well... the outside of this container has faded from olive green to a ghostly off-white color, but... it is just as strong as ever.
I skied this morning and then decided the afternoon weather was more suited for a walk at Mono Basin. I really enjoyed my walk along the Lee Vining Creek Trail... and with all the informative signs, there is a lot to see and learn along the way. Great view of Lee Vining Creek, Mono Lake and, Paoha Island from ground zero.

Very enjoyable setting for some pleasant cache conversation, coffee, and pastry. I had a great time. As the sun grew stronger, we all moved to a shady area and continued on.
Even some curious muggles (future cachers) joined in the fun and conversation.

Beautiful day... Sue and I took a stroll way out but I'm afraid the game was nearly rained out in spite of it being a sunny day. Ground zero was surrounded by 4-inch-deep water. Thankfully, I had the appropriate footwear on and made the play of the day, running across the mote to the tiny island upon which the cache sat. πŸ˜›
The log was soaked (to wet to sign) and I had no paper with me... I did drop off a pathtag though. The container itself is a little melted on the bottom but still in play. πŸ‘

😁😁 7000th Cache Found 😁😁
I set off from Descanso Gardens, starting off with a cache in the lot and catching a few more along the way up to this super well constructed gadget cache. My first attemmpt left me baffled, so I messaged the CO, got a tip and still, there were ???s. Then I noticed something that I had completely ignored, checked it out and... Viola! It all came together. 😁
I couldn't have picked a nicer day. From this cache, I continued up into the hills, where I found a few more caches and lots of great vistas. πŸ˜›

😁 FTF 😁 {FTF} 😁 FTF 😁
7:15 AM I noticed the new cache and figured... "I've got a small block of time. Why not?" So I stepped away from the desk and took a quick ride over on my bike. πŸ˜›
Once at ground zero, I found everything, just as described and... my bicycle was the perfect smokescreen for a discrete retrieval and replacement this morning. πŸ˜‰

Visited 5/25/2022 tom4props took it to LNT California - 239 miles  Visit Log

MamaMia and I walked over from our site in South Camp after breakfast this morning, taking only pictures and leaving no trace, except for our footprints on the trail (LNT). πŸ˜›
Inside Big Sur Station, we met Crystal, who handed me the cache, and Tim. They gave us great recommendations on local hikes, the best routes and even, scenic vantage points. 😁
From the station, Sue and I retraced our steps back down the Pine Ridge Trail and headed over to the newly rebuilt and recently opened Pheiffer Falls and Valley View Trailhead; we made a counterclockwise loop of it. The trail work since the fire (including brand new steps, bridges and fencing) is remarkable... πŸ‘
While returning from Valley View, I spotted a buck, which allowed me and a few others to watch it while grazing for a few moments. I often see does and sometimes fawns but rarely bucks... Later, at dusk, I came upon yet another buck over by the old Homestead. πŸ˜›
Anyway, before returning the cache to Crystal and Tim, I made sure to sign the logbook and drop a few pathtags. πŸ˜‰

I dropped by to do a little spring cleaning after a full morning of skiing. Looks like I just missed the Dillon Gang, who stopped by earlier today. I discovered a TB they dropped and picked up a geocoin. 😎
As for the maintenance... I replaced the temporary log sheet with a brand new logbook (#9), dropped off a TB and left some pathtags. πŸ˜›
