Herkenningsplaatje

Afgekort: hepla. Ook genoemd: hondenpenning of, in het Engels, dog tag.

Het herkenningsplaatje is een metalen identificatie die door militairen aan een ketting rond de hals wordt gedragen. Het herkenningsplaatje kan in twee delen worden gebroken, maar op elk gedeelte staat dezelfde informatie. Als de militair om het leven komt, blijft het bovenste deel aan de ketting om de hals, terwijl het onderste deel wordt afgebroken en bij de betreffende pelotonscommandant van betrokkene wordt ingeleverd. Als de militair gewond raakt, kan de informatie op het herkenningsplaatje worden gebruikt bij bloedtransfusies van miltaire en civiele donors.

The identification plate is a metal identification carried by soldiers on a chain around the neck. The identification plate can be broken into two parts, but each part is the same information. If the soldier is killed , the upper part remains on the chain around the neck , while the lower part is aborted and returned to the respective platoon commander concerned . When the soldier gets wounded the information on the identification plate can be used in blood transfusions miltary and civilian donors.

Visiting the oldest active geocache in the World GC30 in Mingo, Kansas. I've found this cache before a few years ago, but i was driving by and thought why not photo the TB's at the oldest active cache. There isn't anything to look at here though :).

My apologies for lack of logs of recent. I had plans for a couple of trips that got cancelled when the back went out. On a road trip now and hope to get some miles and some photos for the TB's

Today we are visiting the Jolly Green Giant outside of Dayton, Washington. I had no idea about this roadside attraction and the big art on the hill. A cool spot to stop.
