Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) the tallest aminal in the world. They weigh up to 1.5 tonnes and can be up to 5m tall. They have a very long neck, up to 2.5m long, which, incredibly, has the same number of cervical vertebrae, seven, as humans. On the top of their head are two short horns, the tops of which are covered in black hair. A single calf is born at any time of the year after a gestation period of 15 months. Come to Africa to see them !!
