Náměstí střeží černá a bílá věž.

Právě ty posílají šachovou věž do rodného města současného mistra světa Magnuse Carlsena.

Věž má navštívit město Tonsberg v Norsku.

Chess is a board game for two players, nowadays it is a competitive sport. The modern form originated in the 15th century in southern Europe by modifying the Persian chess game. Chess is played on a chessboard, a square board divided into 8 × 8 squares alternately black and white. At the beginning of the game, each player has a total of sixteen pieces, eight pawns and eight figures of five kinds: king, queen, two bishops, knights and rooks. The objective is to checkmate the opponent's king by placing it under an inescapable threat of capture.

The largest chessboard in Central Europe is located in České Budějovice and has the form of the main square. The square is guarded by a black and white rooks and this city was founded by King Přemysl Otakar ll. in 1265.

Chess matches and tournaments have been organized here since the last quarter of the 20th century. Children from the VŠTE Chess Academy also compete in them. They are the ones who send the chess tower to the hometown of the current master Magnus Carlsen.

The pink rook will visit Tonsberg, Norway.
