Primaraly to visit geocaches along the International Appalachian Trail
Secondary mission: To travel the world's geocaches telling tales of the International Appalachian Trail, collecting photos of exotic (and interesting) places visited.
This TB is released in celebration of the International Appalachian Trail and in particular the Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail which is part of the International Appalachian Trail.
The International Appalachian Trail is a premier walking route that links countries on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
The mission of the International Appalachian Trail is to establish a long-distance walking trail that extends beyond borders to all geographic regions once connected by the Appalachian-Caledonian orogen, formed more than 250 million years ago on the super-continent Pangea.
In addition to connecting people and places, the goal is to promote natural and cultural heritage, health and fitness, environmental stewardship, fellowship and understanding, cross-border cooperation, and rural economic development through eco and geo tourism.
The International Appalachian Trail website www.iat-sia.com gives details of the routes from Iceland to Africa, Greenland to Maine
The International Appalachian Trail includes the Wales Coast Path (which includes the Pembrokeshire Coast Path)
