Přilby typu GREAT HELM se užívaly mezi léty cca 1220 až 1540, přičemž našly uplatnění zejména ve třetí křížové výpravě. Rozlišují se starší přilby hrncové a mladší kbelcové přilby. Hrncovky mívaly ploché temeno přilby, které u kbelcových přileb nabývá konvexního (vypouklého) tvaru, a mají méně protáhlý tvar. Hrncová přilba chránila celou hlavu rytíře a výhled z ní byl možný pouze přes malé a zesílené průzory. Kbelcová přilba je prodloužená tak, aby sahala až na ramena jezdce a má vypouklý vrchol. Byla připevněna dvěma řetězy ke kroužkové košili na prsou jezdce a dalšími dvěma na zádech jezdce.
