Born the spring of 2006 at Thompson Pass near Valdez, Alaska, Chris Moose followed his mom and twin sister through the woods and swamps, learning to dine elegantly upon tender buds of trees and plants at the bottom of shallow ponds. His favorite meal is pussy willow buds, followed by nibbles of raspberry leaves. As winter approached, Chris made the painful decision to leave his family and travel southward. You see, he was born with the handicap of very short legs, and he knows that Thompson Pass and the surrounding area gets a tremendous amount of wnter snow: 400 to 500 inches at the coast and up to 900 inches at Thompson Pass. It was purely an act of survival to make the move. Chris Moose likes to be around trees and water, but snow accumulation over 12 inches leaves him struggling. Please help Chris Moose wander with you to forested areas.
Chris Moose is wise for his age. He offers his thoughts as advice to geocachers: Be sure to spend time in the woods. Eat lots of greens. Hold your head high. Stay on track. Its okay to be on the wild side.
