Poor Jingles really is behind the Eight Ball... While playing billards one sunny afternoon he had no idea he was playing against a Zombie until he felt the sharp teeth on his arm...
The idiom "Behind the Eight Ball" was 1st seen in print in the 1920's, derived from the game of pool or billards. Its meaning is to be placed in a difficult or uncomfortable situation from which it is unlikely to escape, like the eight ball being between the cue ball and the shot you're trying to make, making a straight shot impossible.
I'd say this applies to Jingles... he's in a tough spot. So, making the best of it Jingles and his Eight ball are off to see the world and maybe shoot some pool...
