The mission of the travel bug is to visit as many National Parks as possible. Richard would have continued to study the flora and fauna of our beautiful United States if he had not been lost on Flight 93.
This travel bug is in honor of my cousin Richard Guadagno who was the Refuge manager of the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Eureka, California. Rich was lost on September 11th while aboard United Airlines Flight 93 enroute home from New Jersey. Please visit this web site to view more information about Rich and the wonderful work he has done. Also if you have an opportunity to visit the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Eureka, California stop by and visit the memorials dedicated to him. Rich would have loved Geocaching!

I am a little late logging in, but wanted to pass along how mooingpoodle2 found Richard's travel bug at Airplane Rock. We picked Richard up in Vermont, 6/08 while hiking with our 2 sons and their 2 cousins (ages 8-11 yrs). We hunt for geocaches 4-5 times/year, what an honor it was to find Richard's travel bug! We wanted to put the travel bug somewhere special. The view at Airplane Rock in Hocking Hills is beautiful. I am glad mooingpoodle2 found him and will continue this beautiful tribute/journey.

I am late in updating this but I discovered him and moved him to a new location on Memorial Weekend. I was pleased to read his story and place him atop a mountain with excellent views. Hope he enjoys his journey.

This is such a great way to honor the memory of someone! I was on duty on Sept 11 at the time of the attacks for the Vermont Air National Guard and remember the horrifyiing reports. It is an honor to move this man's memory to a spot in these great forests.
