Current GOAL: My mission is to travel with military personnel as they are assigned, and to find a cache nearby. Foreign or domestic assignments are acceptable for this soldier. The description of this Travel Bug, gives the history, to understand, the naming of this Travel Bug. After a two year duty, he is to return home, for rest and relaxation, before being reassigned.
On 18Dec44, Brigadier General Anthony C. McAuliffe, acting commander of the 101th Airborne was ordered to a small crossroads town (Bastogne). Combat Command B was divided into three teams. There were assigned to three towns (Wiltz,Longvilly, and Norville) blocking the advance of the Germans to Bastogne. After eight days, the heros of the 101th were reinforced. They had helped stall the German offensive. They had held, but many brave soldiers were dead or wounded. Go to (visit link) for a great account of this eight days. THANKS TO ALL THAT SERVE TO KEEP OUR COUNTRY FREE. GOD bless the USA.
