Your last full day in Taipei. You spent it doing a bit of caching and then heading to Daan Park for an event and some group FTFs. The 26 hectare park is very popular with local residents and lots of them were here today to see the azalea displays. 🌸

This was a tough cache. Click on it. You have to get partial coordinates from other countries and put them together to get GZ. The it was a four hour walk up Mt Elephant and across to a university. Or you could go up and back but that’s a bit boring. 28c and very humid and sweaty with lots of steps. Feel free to check if I need photos from your country for the other caches in the series. Hint, hint!
Got some hazy views across Taipei and could see Taipei 101 (508m), once the world’s tallest building. Upon completion in 2004, it became the world's first skyscraper to exceed a height of half a kilometre. Now it’s the 11th highest. 🌆

You were out and about caching early this morning which was lucky because then it started to pour. Changed plans and headed to the National Palace Museum. It has a permanent collection of nearly 700,000 pieces of Chinese artifacts and artworks, many of which were moved from the Palace Museum in the Forbidden City as well as five other institutions in mainland China during the ROC retreat. One of the star attractions is a small jade cabbage and the other is a stone that looks like a bite size piece of BBQed pork. 🥬

Maligayang pagdating sa pilipinas. Welcome to the Philippines. You arrived in Manila a week ago but there are not many geocaches here left for me to find. This is officially my home country thanks to Mr Wombat’s work. I took you to Makati, the financial center of the Philippines and a major cultural and entertainment hub in Metro Manila. Lots of shopping, lots of restaurants, and wide footpaths to walk on. 🇵🇭

You landed at Muscat, Oman, for a quick stop over. Oman looks a really interesting place, more mountainous than other countries in the area. Unfortunately, you only got to see the inside of the airport lounge today and then it was onto the next flight. 🇴🇲

Now it’s off to an event to see the Tower Bridge bascules raised in order for a boat to pass underneath. It was a condition of building the bridge that it did not obstruct river traffic. Originally, the bridge opened around 17 times a day whenever a boat arrived. Nowadays, you need to book an opening for your boat 24 hrs before you arrive. It’s still free though. It’s usually a fun thing to see except if you are caught unawares and need to get to the other side of the Thames. 🚢
