About This Item

Boy Scouts of America medallion

This travel bug is a medaliion with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) logo on one side, and the Scout Oath on the other side. Ideally, I'd like to see people affiliated with BSA pick up and move this bug.

If you are a Boy Scout now, were a Boy Scout at one time, or are involved in leadership with BSA, please record your troop number, rank, location of your troop, and anything else you'd like to share about your experience with BSA.

Ultimately, I'd like this travel bug to end up in a cache close to Fort AP Hill Military Base, just North of Bowling Green, VA by and around July 25, 2005. This is the site and first date of BSA's National Jamboree, which only takes place every 4 years (see (visit link) My son, Psycho Psnooper, will be attending this Jamboree, and the rest of the family will be taking a vacation to the Washington DC area and visiting him during the jamboree. It would be very cool if we could find our own travel bug while in the area.

This bug is going to be launched on March 20, 2004, during our local troop's next weekend outing. Our theme for the outing is "geocaching", and I'm sure the boys will get a charge out of seeing the "hike" this travel bug takes. This bug is affiliated with Troop 598 from Hales Corners, Wisconsin - just outside of Milwaukee.

The travel bug attended a geocaching/orienteering camporee sponsored by Troop 152 in Mukwonago Park, Mukwonago, WI yesterday. About 100 boys learned about geocaching, hunted 3 types of caches, sharpened their map reading and orienteering skills, and of course saw an example of and learned about travel bugs.

As a former Scoutmaster of Troop 246 of Brookfield, WI(Potawatomi Area Council) for 10 years, and adviser for Wag-O-Shag #280 Lodge of the Order of the Arrow for the next 10 years I could not resist this travel bug. I would love to meet it at Fort A.P. Hill in August of 2005. I have attended 4 Jamborees there and one World Jamboree in the Netherlands. Scouting has given me more over the years than I have been able to pay back. I am presently serving on a couple of Council Committees and missing working with the youth. I will take it to a Camporee tomorrow at Mukwonago County park that is having a Geocaching activity to show the Scouts an example of a travel bug.

I could not resist grabbing this TB as my dad was placing it in the cache. I have a lot of great memories as a boy scout and to this day I still love and appreciate the outdoors. I made it to Life with only my eagle project to go. The current scout master and thier family moved away and I lost interest before completing my project. I also was in Order of the Arrow. The troop number was 252.
