The Austin Family traveling R2D2 has the goal of making it to all 50 states in the United States. We are plannning on putting R2 in a cache in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area during the weekend of July 30th, 2016 as we travel south (from Oklahoma) to watch the Texas Rangers take on the Kansas City Royals. Please help R2 visit all 50-states with the final goal of making his way back home to Oklahoma!
PLEASE! Take a photo with R2D2 and upload it to his page! We want to see all his friends that he's going to make on this long trip. Thanks soooo much!
This R2D2 droid was make in 1998 following the release of Star Wars Ep. 1 The Phantom Menace. He was made by Hasbro and has 'booster rockets', but they are staying at home... they'll likely fall off inside his first cache visit. We (as a family) have four original vintage R2D2's MOC's (Mint on Card); a Tri-Logo (1983), Power of the Force (1985), Return of the Jedi (1983) and Empire Strikes Back (1980) as well as several loose vintage figures.
Star Wars was a huge part of my childhood, like many who grew up in the 70's-80's, seeing Episode IV (A New Hope) in 1978 for the first time. The love continued to this day... with all the new movies coming out... Rouge One... Episodes VII to IV... and on... Star Wars in part of the culture of the entire world. But as the father of two little girls, I never knew the bug would jump to them. Now the love of Star Wars is in the whole Austin family, not just old dad. We thought of no better travel bug than R2, everyone's favorite droid :) Hopefully, we will get to see him travel to every state in the Union then eventually make it back home to Oklahoma. Thank you to everyone for making this goal a reality!

My baby girls May 2016 at "Walker Stalker", where Michael Cudlitz (Abraham) of The Walking Dead took a free selfie with us because of my military service. Awesome man. But this two little girls are my whole world...
