Okay, I seem to have successfully recorded it being deposited. Now for some more details.
I believe we took it from my wife's brother b/c we knew at the time that we would be heading to Seattle shortly. So the coin traveled from Toronto to Berkeley, CA. And then we took it with us to Seattle, sometime in 2008, with the intention of depositing it in a geocache near Green Lake. But it was a busy trip, and we never got around to it. So the coin traveled back with us to Berkeley.
At various times I considered dropping it in a geocache in Berkeley. There are apparently several within easy biking distance of our house, although I've never tried actually searching for them. But life got in the way, and it sat in a drawer for years.
Fast forward to 2015. We were headed to Seattle again, so we took the coin with us. Flew to the Seattle airport, drove to Port Angeles, ferry to Victoria, drove to Swartz Bay, ferry to Tsawwassen, drove to Vancouver, drove to Seattle.
We were staying very close to the Otani cache (GC2FJQ5), and my 4.5 year old son (who wasn't even born when this coin came into my possession) and I spent a while searching for it. Our very first experience with geocaching, and we were sadly not able to find it.
I really, really, really didn't want to take this back to Berkeley yet again, so on the way to get some lunch, we tried again, at the Gear Head cache (GC4KFD3). Success!
So, after a very very long delay, it's now back in the system, and much closer to home. Sorry for flaking on it for so many years.
