Current Goal

This bugs mission is to get to the East Coast of the US to areas that have a history of piracy about them. The southern coast is good, too. Eventually, this TB needs to get to Ireland to see if any pics can be taken in spots where the famed, but obscure, female pirate Grace O'Malley hung about. Once achieved, this bug must return to it's home here in land-locked Colorado and tell it's tales by March, 2006.

About This Item

Pirate Transportation

This TB is one of three that are piratical in nature and are going to be the owners way of visiting the stomping grounds of famous female pirates from history. The more spots this bug gets to that are of piratical significance, the better. I hope each of you who moves Bonney's Search for Grania (Grace's Gallic name)along enjoys what you may learn as you do. The other two pirate bugs are headed to China (another famous female pirate from there, and she was more fierce than Blackbeard) and the Caribbean. And we all know about Pirates of the Caribbean....Enjoy your history lessons, I'm excited to see the pics and watch the trail. Anne Bonney

This one was lost to a muggling. I'm seeing if the cache owners want to replace it in another or not.

Many thanks to all of you who had a hand, car, or plane tied to making this TB the most traveled of my TBs. It was a grand adventure--and I'd like to keep it going on.

This travel bug discovered that long ago, pirates loved to come and dock in Cape May NJ; because the cape had many marshes and creeks where they could hide. These buccaneers would wait for a ship heading to Philadelphia to come into the bay, and then they would come out from their hiding place, attack the ship, and steal it's cargo. What is known is that Captain Kidd buried 40,000 British pounds of which only 10,000 pounds have been found. Also according to legend this treasure is in a groove of Pine trees by the water. One place Captain KIDD'S TREASURE COULD BE BURIED IS IN Del Haven. Maps and newly discovered documents point to this town. If the maps are right, it would be located under a present day office complex north of the marshy cache Bonney is presently in.
Many legends suggest that there is pirate treasure buried somewhere in Cape May. Another STORY SAYS A MAN IN CHARGE OF A LIFE SAVING STATION NOTICED A SHIP OFF SHORE. aCCORDING TO EYEWITNESSES, MEN LEFT THis SHIP AND WENT ASHORE ON A YAWL(a small boat) They dissappeared behind some sand dunes and shore pines and came out with a treasure chest. Then they placed it back again. When this story spread in the 1800's people began to dig all over the beaches for this treasure. In 1948 a lobsterman found gold coins on the beach.

I am proud to be the one to take this "land lubber" transport to the East where the Pirates of old did many of their 'dasterdly' deeds.

I must have just missed you as I was there the same day you dropped this off.

"Bonnie Search for Grania" is on it's way to New Jersey for a starter course in pirate history.

During the revolution, on ships the Patriots called "Privateers" and the English called "Pirates", many a British ship was brought in to the Mullica River in South Jersey and scuttled after the cargo was unloaded. From where I live in my back yard --- a couple a hundred yards down river --- are many a ballast stone pile that has taken an outdrive or two off a tourist who was running at low tide. The poor present day, pleasure boater doesn't even realize that it's the result of a 230 year old "Pirate" that has struck again!!!

We may have a friend going to the place of the "ol sod" later this summer and we will see what we can to move towards that goal!!

Thanks for the TB ---- The NJ Dr. Grasshopper
