Obraz Panny Marie Klatovské

Obraz Matky Boží, která chová na klíně malého Ježíše, má původ v severní Itálii nedaleko jezera Lago Maggiore v údolí Vegezzo. Tam leží vesnice jménem Re, náležející k diecézi Navarské, kde stál kostel zasvěcený sv. Mauriciovi. Na přední straně kostela je namalovaný výše uvedený obraz s latinským  nápisem, který přeložen do češtiny znamená: „V lůně Matky sedí Moudrost Otcova." 29. dubna 1494 se stala tato událost:

Nevěřící muž jménem Jan Zukkone po urážkách Panny Marie hodil kámen na obraz a zasáhl čelo Matky Boži. Po úderu začalo čelo krvácet a tento jev trval 18 dnů. Značné množství lidí, včetně místního duchovního, který nechal krev téci do sklenky, podává svědectví o pravdivosti. Sklenka s krvi je dosud uložena nadůkaz této události a je uctívána v nově postaveném kostele na místě původního, ze kterého je zachováno průčelí v hlavním oltáři se zázračným obrazem. Tento kostel v Re se stal poutním místem, v němž věřící dodnes ctí a prosí Pannu Marii za vyslyšeni jako Prostřednici milostí.

Současně s postupně se šířící úctou k obrazu bylo zhotoveno mnoho kopií. Jedna z nich se dostala do Klatov kolem r. 1650 s kominíkem Ritcoltem z Re, který šel za prací a usadil se zde. Dostal obraz jako dědictví po rodičích. V Klatovech se oženil. Manželé adoptovali dceru, která se jmenovala Anna Rýmerová. Ta se provdala za krejčího Ondřeje Hiršbergera. Koupili si domek, který stál v místě dnešní kaple „Chaloupky". Tento obraz zdědili a zachovávali k němu velikou úctu jako rodiče. Pro neúrodu a války začalo tehdy ubývat i krejčovské práce, a tedy tím i obživy rodiny Hiršbergerových. Manželé prodávali co mohli, obrazu se však zbavit nechtěli. P. Maria jim byla útočištěm v bídě a nesnázích. Nakonec však došlo i na obraz, který nabídli známému faráři. Cesta k jeho prodeji byla jakoby mařena nemocí dětí, u kterých oba rodiče museli setrvávat. Při modlitbách u obrazu spatřil Ondřej Hiršberger 8. července 1685 krůpěje krve, prýštící z rány na čele. Obraz byl odnesen do děkanského kostela na rozkaz tehdejšího duchovního P. Vojtěcha Stodlara. 


Bylo vyslechnuto mnoho svědků, kteří viděli tento úkaz. Obraz byl po důkladných šetřeních a po vyslechnutí velkého množství svědků instalován na hlavni oltář. Umístění předcházel dle záznamů "Hystorie Klattowské" z r. 1699 velký průvod ulicemi a náměstím klatovským. Od r. 1685 je slavena až do dnešních dnů každoročně památka jako pouť k zázračnému obrazu Panny Marie. Mnoho poutníků, a nejen jich, bylo vyslyšeno Matkou Boží a na její přímluvu se udála uzdravení fyzická i duchovní. Tento obraz je skutečným projevem Boží lásky k nám skrze Marii.

During prayers at the image he saw Andrew Hiršberger 8. July 1685 were great drops of blood, oozing from the wound on his forehead.The image was carried to the deanery of the church on the orders of then spiritual P. Vojtěch Stodlar.
