Dropped Off 9/9/2006 Sonic Rabbits West placed it in Ma and Pa Stanford's Old Red Barn California - 10.25 miles  Visit Log

Any self respecting railroad spike, much less a historic one, would need to travel to visit the Man who Drove the Golden Spike. This cache is right near a barn dating from Leland Stanford's farm. Old Man Leland, of course, drove the Golden Spike to finish the Transcontinental Railroad. Historical SPIKE has now made the pilgrimage. 🙂

(sorry to put this in a multi, but it's really just barely one. It's an offset cache of a few hundred feet, and in fact they've posted the final coordinates in the cache description. We decided the historical significance was enough to be worth it.)

Tried to fit this in Stoned. Couldn't quite get the dog tag in with the rest of it. Guess I'll have to find a bigger cache.

Now that's a travel bug.

We'll move it along, so it doesn't weigh down the caching backpack. 🙂

Made a special trip to swap for this one! We'll take this up to Tahoe and leave it somewhere near the rails in Historic Truckee!
