Current Goal

This Travel Bug is a dogtag replica of a now famous US Postage Stamp...3 New York City firefighters raising the American Flag over the ruins of the World Trade Center in September of 2001. I would like this Travel Bug to visit Fire Stations around the USA, and around the World...with a description of the Fire Station (Department, location, etc.) logged for each visit, and a photograph too please.

About This Item

Many people call firefighters "Heros"...but most of us tend to shy away from that title, we don't consider ourselves heros. We are just like you; making a living in a way that challenges us on a daily basis. The fact that many people wonder about our challenge of sanity only makes us work harder. (My husband has yet to figure out why we run in to the fire when everyone else is running away from it.) I, like most firefighters, have a curiosity of what other firehouses look like and what equipment they are using. With your help I will save a lot of driving miles (like I'm ever going to see all that you will show me!) and satisfy some of my curiosity. And I'll share the photos with you geocachers and some of my "brothers and sisters". Like those that responded to the events of 9-11-01. I will never forget.

I had to grab this on a weekend visit to St. Augustine, since my husband is a paramedic and has worked 911 ambulances. Paramedics often are the unsung heroes. We both were truly and deeply affected by the horrific events of 9/11. It's unfortunate that this didn't get any good photos from it's stay in GA so I will try to keep it in FL but get a couple of pictures for the log. As I was reading the logs, I was disapointed to see that this had gotten lost for 2 years...
We will never forget!

My family found this Heros tag at Between the Parks. We are jumping it on the 18th to a new location. Great Bug! My humble respect goes out to all of our Heros.

Found this in VIEW CARRE ', a cache in New Orleans. It has already been to Georgia, so I will move it along on my next business trip.
