I finally stopped to visit "Grandpa Wally" today... didn't accept the oil change after all... I'd just had a bunch of work done on my car... but did talk to him about whether he needed a computer (he resisted mightily!) and whether he knew of any bargain cars for sale (he said he knew of a couple of retired ladies who were about to stop driving, so maybe I'll get a bonus from my visit).

He seems like a nice man... and I'll remember the business, and come back if I need car work in that area.

Thanks for the pleasure of walking in and asking for him... he wasn't surprised enough, but it was still a lot of fun!

Grandpa Wally has Mash, now... I presume he'll send it on to the owners, or something.

I drove past, and scouted Grandpy Wally's place... I'll try to go visit him early next week.

Grandpa Wally shouldn't be that far away... if I can find him, great... I can use an oil change. If not, I can at least get Mash closer to him.

Mash had a great time in Alaska. He discovered that the mosquito's really are as big as hen turkeys, they are ravenously hungry, they fly up out of standing water in huge black clouds, and are undeterred by almost any bug spray. He was impressed! Mash was a great traveler and Old People 1 & 2 kept him longer than most TB's, but the chance to take him to Alaska was just too good to pass up. He was placed in the Ski-Hill Cache in Soldotna, Alaska where he was picked up by Atomic Blonde and is now in Chicago. Who knows, he might even get to Grandpa Wally's. Thanks for being a part of our travels and enjoy Chi-Town.

Mash was at Independence Mine State Park in the Talkeetna Mountains about 60 miles north of Anchorage at The Gold Mine cache. Pictures were taken at the entrance sign to the state park with some of the other travel bugs in attendance. The pictures will be added to the TB log at a later date when they have been processed. It was a beautiful day in the high country - the mosquitos and flies were out in abundance. Two travel bugs who were in the cache joined the rest of the group along with a geocoin. What fun we are having!
