Grab It (Not from a Cache) 1/24/2005 Beluga183 grabbed it   Visit Log

Grabbed this to drop at C&TE#1 tonight. Love this journal concept; we did about 4 pages of entries while we had it. Photographed all the entries to date - email me and I'll send you the photos!

Retrieve It from a Cache 1/17/2005 NorthWes retrieved it from dalli lamba Alaska   Visit Log

Retrieved from the sunlit Dalli Lamba Cache - where there's so much light from the sky and reflected from the water and ice that a person absolutely has to have good sunglasses (glacier glasses would be best!) or they'll get blinded...

After a day of listening to the tides carry pack ice to and fro, and the sounds of passing trucks and trains, this journal-form TB is on its way towards a cache maintained by a young geocaching lady I know... right in the heart of Anchorage Alaska. We'll see if we can post photos from near the Dalli Lamba cache site, as well as some 'town-moose' photos at the next cache.

  • Mt Spurr Sunset The view from the dalli lamba cache to the west at sunset, across Cook Inlet.
  • Redoubt Volcano across Cook Inlet, Alaska Redoubt Volcano bulks above the western horizon at dusk across Cook Inlet, west of the dalli lamba cache.
  • Half-moon over Hope, Alaska The gold-rush era town of Hope lies to the south of dalli lamba across Turnagain Arm. Twice daily the second-highest tides in the world surge in and out of this arm of upper Cook Inlet on the northeast rim of the Pacific Ocean. Here along Anchorage's southern edge wildlife abounds - with eagles, moose, dall sheep, black bear, beluga whales, and brown bear to be found, as well as streams of migrating birds.

Retrieve It from a Cache 11/29/2004 Deke Rivers retrieved it from Fruit Cache Alaska   Visit Log

Rescued this cool bug from hibernation. I'll find a more accessible spot in Anchorage.

Found this cache on the way home from up North. The GPS batteries were running low so I was also running through the snow to find this cache before the last of the batteries went Phthththpt!

Some photos are posted here are of this TB that joined me on the trip South from the North Slope.

Cheers, Northern Trekker
