I'd loved to have "grabbed" this one from Mr Truffelite, but I fear he might have used his TB-cum-Walking/Geocaching-Aid to good effect, so I had to make do with a "Discovered It." During my Letterboxing days I used a so-called thumb-stick, thinking I'd never be weaned off it in favour of one of those modern, telescopic metal and plastic ones! However, I now stick with my extendable Leki pole (other brands are available), though my old wooden thumb-stick is still lurking somewhere in the garage!

Great to meet you Truffelites. Mr T, may you never leave your stick behind at some remote tor on Dartmoor - I've done that in the past - with both varieties - having had to backtrack to make a recovery!
