Am Partan is Scottish Gaelic for "the crab". This poor crab has been caught in a cage - please don't try to remove him as you could hurt him. Instead please help him on his mission.
He will be set free on his travels from a cache on the island of North Uist where the Gaelic language is still spoken.
His travel tag shows the flag of the Western Isles of Scotland of which North Uist is one. The crab cage with crab inside is a Christmas tree ornament that we bought when visiting our son in Hawaii.
